The Opportunity
Senior Project Manager – Dorchester Hospital Emergency Department
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of our new Emergency Department at Dorchester Hospital. This is a site-based role, with regular reporting to our Southampton office, offering the chance to play a key role in a high-profile healthcare project.
What you will be doing
- Lead and manage all Engineering Services activities in accordance with the company’s IPCD and Project Process Document.
- Ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with company protocols.
- Oversee daily resource management, addressing any staffing issues appropriately.
- Manage commercial aspects of the project, including cost tracking and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting.
- Understand client requirements and ensure these are met to the highest standard of satisfaction.
- Act as the company’s representative on internal and external matters.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans and procedures, ensuring all team members are aligned and compliant.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting across all levels of the project.
- Conduct regular audits to monitor project compliance and progress.
- Maintain consistent communication with the project team regarding project updates and company initiatives.
- Manage project cash flow to ensure it remains positive throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee design, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities to deliver optimal value for Engineering Services.
- Proactively identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to address them.
What we will need from you
We’re looking for a highly experienced, multi-disciplinary Senior Project Manager with a strong background in delivering high-value projects (£10m+). You’ll be responsible for driving performance across the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities and experience required:
- Proven experience leading complex projects valued at £10m+
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and drive projects to successful completion
- Strong experience in programme production and management
- Ability to interpret project specifications and resolve technical queries during the contract
- Experience managing procurement, labour resources, and subcontractor performance
- Expertise in managing and negotiating variation accounts
- Leading the preparation of monthly progress and payment applications
- Hands-on experience in construction management and liaison with site supervision teams
- Direct involvement in site operations, including installation and commissioning phases
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and professional teams
- Proven stakeholder engagement and management skills
- Strong financial acumen in controlling contract costs and variations
- Ability to apply value engineering to achieve cost efficiencies
- Coordination of M&E Services installations
- Full understanding of health and safety compliance, including preparation of method statements and risk assessments
- Compilation and presentation of comprehensive Operating & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals
- Previous experience in healthcare sector projects is highly desirable
Skills and Qualifications
Preferred:
- BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering
- BTEC HND in Building Services
Essential:
- BTEC HNC in Building Services
- BTEC ONC in Building Services
- Valid CSCS Card
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
